Group classes are offered throughout the year, and typically run for 5 weeks at a time in a progressive fashion. Frequent classes we offer are summarized below.
For the people who have never danced west coast swing before. We introduce the basic rhythm and footwork, essential partnering skills, and the five basic patterns: side pass, tuck, sugar push, turning basic, and whip Class runs for five weeks.
7:30 - 8:30 pm, Saskatoon Salsa (Blue Studio)
Once you have mastered the basics from Beginner 1, this is the next step - we will cover common social west coast swing patterns, and an introduction into musicality.
8:30 - 9:30 pm, Saskatoon Salsa (Blue Studio)
This class introduces spins and spin technique - we're starting to get fancy in this one! Beginner 1 or equivalent is a pre-requisite.
7:30 - 8:30 pm, Saskatoon Salsa (Blue Studio)
Intermediate classes delve deeper into more specific topics, such as variations on basic patterns, footwork, syncopations, musicality, and even choreography.
This session, we will be piggy-backing off of the topics from the Hugo & Stacy workshop weekend, delving into topics of connection, timing, and using these techniques to build more advanced patterns and styling to fit the music.
Fall Session 2 - October 28 through November 25 (5 weeks)
8:30 - 9:30 pm, Saskatoon Salsa (Blue Studio)
One-off workshops are offered more randomly throughout the year, and usually are one 2-3 hour class where we focus on a theme.
